reMask

The Swiss National COVID-19 Science Task Force

reMask is a national working group, collaborating with the Swiss National COVID-19 Science Task Force (NCS-TF) and is supported by Innosuisse and the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF). The aim of reMask is to provide expertise, an objective analysis of the situation, together with recommendations to decision-makers and the general public. ReMask does not get involved in the commercialization of face masks and cannot, therefore, give advice to producers or sellers of facemasks. In particular, reMask does not carry out laboratory tests on face masks before they are used or placed on the market, nor does reMask issue any certificate of conformity.

Their experts support authorities, hospitals and the industry in their mission to supply hospitals, professionals, and the population in Switzerland with masks of sufficient quality during the COVID-19 crisis. The work is focused on the following tasks:

  • Processing of scientific data to define the optimal conditions for wearing masks.

  • Establish national mask quality testing structures and procedures for the import of masks and the new production of masks in Switzerland.

  • Propose a contingency plan in case of mask shortage for healthcare professional by enabling them to reuse their masks with minimal risk.

  • Supporting the Swiss industry to produce masks against COVID-19 with a quality label.

  • Coordinating the key players such as the research, medical and industrial sectors and authorities.
